Type of exercise that increases fitness but results in minimal weight loss?

I’m a sixteen year old girl, and I want to start exercising just to improve my general physical and mental health. But I’m slightly underweight and I don’t want to lose any more weight. I know running and jogging result in massive weight loss. Is there any exercise I can do that will improve my fitness and stamina but won’t make me lose that much weight? Please help.

How does weight training relate to weight loss?

I am an overweight 40 year old male and have been seeing a nutritionist and working out for two months now. I am doing great and have lost 16 lbs! I have only been doing cardio (walking, treadmill, and eliptical) as my exercise routine. I want to incorporate weight training, but do not understand the benefits. How will this help me lose weight? I understand that is will benefit me in the long run with toning up my muscles etc.. but right now I am trying to focus on weight loss. Should I start the weight training now or wait until I lose more weight.

Will I see the same weight loss results with walking instead of jogging/running?

Not leisurely walking, but fast cardio walking where I get my heart rate up?

I’m typically walking 3 – 4 miles 5-6 times a week, but my friend told me that it’ll take longer to burn fat walking than jogging.

Is this true? Personally, I find jogging uncomfortable even with an exercise bra on, but if it’s more conducive to weight loss then I’ll try it.

What do you think?

Okay, so i’ve already lost 25 pounds since april 1 when i started my diet. lately i have been slacking and havent been eating the way i should be. i want to start eating good again and my goal is to loose the most 10 pounds by the end of august before school starts back up. now i was wondering, which one would be a better way to exercise? would going for a bike ride burn more calories than going walking/jogging? or should i try other exercises and mix them up by alternating days?

Ok i am 16, 5’9 and around 185 lbs i am down from 215(i lost the weight when i decided i want to fight in MMA ) i lost this weight in maybe like 2 or 3 months when i started eating only whole grain breads drinking only water and eating in portions plus exercising more (400 crunches a night and more cardio) i have a medium frame build my goal is to get down to 160 or 165 before the end of the summer…. how can i lose that 20 something pounds quicker…like in a month

Medical Problem Preventing Weight Loss?

QUESTION: What are some medical problems that can prevent weight loss?

STORY: I’ve been trying to lose these 20-30lbs for years. Two years ago I joined a gym. 30mins every other day of exercise didn’t work, I upped it to 30 mins everyday–still nothing. Eventually I started doing an hour a day and after that TWO hours a day (was doing the spinning/cycling classes mainly, but also step and kickboxing and bodyworks). NOTHING WORKED. I also teach karate on the side.

In fear of overexercising, I cut it back to 30 mins a day of just running. Still have yet to drop a pound OR LOSE AN INCH off my waist. My diet is great… no fastfood, sugary stuff, fruit juice, soda, etc. 90% a wide variety of veggies and beans (I’m a vegetarian), cottage cheese, some fruit, protein supplement, and some whole grains. I split my meals up into 6 a day to keep my metabolism up.

I’m at a lost of words. I don’t know what else to do.
I was tested for thyroid problem a while back and that wasn’t the culprit. I was wondering if there could be another problem. I know there is PCOS and insulin restance.

I asked my stupid doctor about it and he basically laughed me outta the office assuring me I didn’t have that much to lose and not to worry about it (I have a BF% of 30.. I -am- overweight). I plan on seeing him again to get the referal for the tests anyway.
