I read an article online that was saying doing cardio before weight training is counter productive and that you should do weight training before cardio because when you weight train first, you’re burning off the carbs, and when you do your cardio you’re actually burn off the fat?
I generally do weight training for about 15-20 minutes. I do about 7 or 8 different machines, and I also do 50 minutes on the elliptical daily. By putting weight training first on the days I do both, would that actually help burn fat faster?

I lost about 8-10 pounds in about 2 months. I try to eat healthy, get all my necessary nutrients, do 30 minute jogging about 4-5 days a week, and do weight training every other day. But since last week, i gained back like 2-3 pounds, is it muscle weight or something else? if it is, how would i know if i am still losing weight?

I have been working out doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training 5 days a week. I inquired about what is best, to do the cardio before or after, and all the answers I got told me I should be doing them on separate days. Is this accurate?

I am working out 6 days a week alternating upperbody and lower body (core everyday) but also doing 30 minutes of cardio everyday. Is that enough cardio if I am trying to tone and lose weight moreso than gain muscle? Also does it make a difference if you do cardio or the weight training first?

I want to do cardio alongside my weight training routine. I want to be able to run marathons and atleast 5 miles or over, but I don’t want to be all small like an olympic long distance runner, I want to have muscle. Can anyone please suggest a weight training/ cardio workout for me.

For instance is it better to have a protein shake after weight training instead of whole foods and vice versa for cardio? Or should we eat 1 hr before and after all workouts, or is it 30 minutes?

Do swimming, walking, and bike riding count as cardio exercise? Also, is it ok to gauge your workout by how long you work out? I mean, if I swim for an hour or more, is that alright to go by that, or should I be counting the actual laps? This is a run on question if ever I saw one. Lol. Sorry.

I’ve heard from several sources that cardio and weight training should be alternated day to day. Is this true? I’ve just joined the local YMCA for the first time and I’m pretty much lost…
Also, this is kind of unrelated, but what are the advantages and disadvantages of weight machines as opposed to free weights? I’ve started on machines (mainly because I don’t know any excersises on free weights and didn’t want to look like a fool in the room).
