Why am I losing weight despite that fact that I am eating enough?

I have lost 3 lb’s in the past 5 days!

I have been eating the same as I normally would, and have not done an excessive amount of exercise. How am I losing weight?
Plus I am not dehydrated, I have been drinking plenty of water.
I always weigh myself in the morning, and normally it never changes.

A woman’s weight can fluctuate quite a bit with her menstrual cycle. However, if you this continues, and you maintain your usual diet and exercise, you should see a doctor.

Maybe you have a parasite (ex. tape worm).

3 lbs is nothing. Your weight can fluctuate as much as 5 lbs in a single day depending on when you weigh yourself, when your most recent meal was, etc. As a woman, you also get the additional “bonus” of water retention (especially around your period), so that adds another unknown factor. If you’re not exercising, you may be losing muscle mass as well, though it doesn’t sound like you’ve given up on exercise.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it right now. Give yourself a good 2-3 weeks before making any serious assessments like this. If you continue to lose weight (like 10 lbs in that timeframe), then consider seeing a doctor.

  4. Well, you asked! says:

My weight fluctuates a lot during the course of a week, depending on where I am in my menstrual cycle, as much as 3 – 5 pounds….
